NEW Arosa Alva

Our newest ship A-ROSA ALVA was christened on 30 April 2019 in Porto by German singer, songwriter and actress, Yvonne Catterfeld, the ship’s Godmother and A-ROSA’s brand ambassador in a ceremony attended by many partners, journalists and A-ROSA employees. Following tradition, Yvonne Catterfeld wished the ship and the crew good luck for the sailings ahead, a champagne bottle was broken over the hull and our guests then enjoyed red and white confetti. The ship then sailed away for a short cruise on the Douro River before returning to Porto at sunset whilst our guests enjoyed a special christening dinner.
A-ROSA ALVA offers 63 cabins for 126 guests and is the smallest ship in our fleet with a length of 79.8m and a width of 11.4m. However, it still has all the features that guests would expect from A-ROSA including a SPA-ROSA with sauna and treatment rooms, a gym and a pool and sun deck. Furthermore, there is a lift on board.
“The christening of the A-ROSA ALVA further demonstrates the rise in popularity of contemporary European city-to-city holidays” Jörg Eichler, CEO of A-ROSA explained in his christening speech. “Six years ago, we started to invest in product innovation, marketing and sales and we have thus started to change the entire river cruise sector.
"River cruises have developed in recent years to become a more experience-led holiday for the entire family. After six years of investment, the A-ROSA ALVA enables us to introduce both a new ship and a new destination and we will continue our expansion journey in this way.” He also reassured that A-ROSA will continue as one of the leaders of innovation in the industry.
