Happy New Year!
2020 has come and gone
They say that time flies, but this last year I beg to differ. Every hour of every day has been long and hard with many ups and downs.
In the midst of the most challenging year, I have ever faced in 26 years of trading, my heart goes out to those who have family and friends pass away for whatever reason. I had 6 friends and family die from cancer, and many still suffering, but thankfully none from the virus. To those who have lost loved ones, I send my love and sympathy.
A serious car accident held me back when we re-opened in July and the ongoing, ever-changing announcements around travel took their toll.
Refunds, re-bookings and re-patriations were excellently handled by my team. Those involved in sales had to continue to work outside furlough to re-accommodate customers while our suppliers worldwide were often closed. It was a period of uncertainty and a feeling of helplessness.
Now, 2020 is over and a light comes at the end of a tunnel. Customers are calling for their Summer breaks and indeed winter too. We are already dreaming of those places we missed, our families abroad and those who have worked hard during this time can't wait to get some Vit D on a beach, sail again or just know they have something to look forward to.
Tour operators are adapting their booking conditions, vaccines are being approved and insurance providers are looking at comprehensive cover. Holidays and flights are bookable right to 2022 with those who already moved taking priority. Ask us, we are experts in our field.
Our dreams have been postponed, but not ended. Travel will re-start our economy and just as we travel abroad, those same flights will bring travellers here to use our hotels and tourist attractions. We are all links in a chain. Even though Brexit has happened, our European friends need us too.
This year we have all been in different boats, yachts, canoes or just paddling for dear life...but all in the same storm. Be kind. Support local. Trust the companies that protect you. Encourage not discourage.
From the supplier of the milk in the coffee cup at the airport, to your sandwich onboard, your taxi, hotel, or new clothes for holidays, we all need each other to make our economy great again.
Look forward, not back. You aren't going that way.
Despite our office being closed we will re-open on Monday, 4th January from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday, for the foreseeable future. You will be able to reach us via telephone on 028 38 394489 or via email. You will find our individual email addresses by clicking here.
I wish you a happy and healthy 2021 and remember kindness is not cancelled, sunshine is not cancelled, walking is not cancelled and most of all HOPE is not cancelled.
